BALDWIN, N.Y. (AP) -- Prosecutors have filed sex abuse and other charges against a Long Island PTA official who police say was caught in an SUV with a 13-year-old boy.
Joan Tuckruskye has been released on $5,000 bail after pleading not guilty Wednesday to sexual abuse and criminal sexual act.
Police say the 44-year-old PTA vice president and the teen both were naked from the waist down when found behind a Baldwin middle school in December.
Tuckruskye was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors say DNA testing led to the upgraded charges alleging the two engaged in sex.
Defense attorney Brian Griffin says the DNA tests were inconclusive and he will ask his own expert to review them. The Baldwin school district didn't immediately comment.
