Citi Field Streaker's Boss Says There Was No Bet

NEW YORK (AP)  -- The boss of the man who ran naked across Citi Field earlier this week says he is a "good guy" and it was just a "crazy thing" that he did. A crazy thing that has landed the 30-year-old plumber in some serious trouble.

John Montone reports

Prosecutors say Craig Coakley disrupted a New York Mets game by jumping onto Citi Field Tuesday night completly naked except for a stuffed monkey tied around his waist.  He pleaded not guilty to trespassing charges.

Coakley apparently told police after his arrest that it was a bet, and his boss said he'd pay him a week's salary.

However, Coakley's boss tells 1010 WINS that there was no bet, but believes that what Coakley did was all in "good fun."

He also said it was the first time he had ever seen his employee naked.

Coakley was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of interfering with a professional sporting event. His lawyer says he posted $1,000 bail and will return to court June 11.

Prosecutors say Coakley was sitting in field level seats around 8 p.m. Tuesday night when a security guard saw him take off his clothes and put the stuffed monkey around his waist and jump onto the field.

The Mets beat the Braves 3-4 in 10 innings.
