COPIAGUE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Long Island man has been accused of stealing an 89-year-old woman's purse.
Louis Mancini, 21, of Copiague, took the purse Friday from a shopping cart in the Merrineck Shopping Center in Copiague but was immediately caught by two employees of a nearby supermarket and held until officers arrived, police said.
The woman, Myriam Sammis of Amityville, was not harmed.
Mancini was charged with robbery and grand larceny. He was scheduled for
arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
The Good Samaritans, Ryan Harrigan and Anthony Cavasinni, suffered minor injuries in the chase, police said.
