Heavy Rain in Mamaroneck Could Cause Flooding
MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) -- Heavy rain in a suburban New York village could cause flooding.
Terry Sheridan Reports
Officials have declared a limited state of emergency in Mamaroneck, asking residents to move their vehicles from low-lying areas. The village is in Westchester County, about 26 miles northeast of Manhattan.
Mayor Kathleen Savolt says that the Sheldrake and Mamaroneck rivers rose past their banks on Thursday. The forecast is for more rain this weekend.
Officials say the limited state of emergency declaration is just a precaution.
The National Weather Service has declared a flood watch for much of the county.
