Gunfire Strikes NYPD Van, Wounds Suspect

NEW YORK (AP)  -- Gunfire that struck a police van has wounded a suspect being transported through Brooklyn.

Police say the van drove through a shoot-out on Atlantic Avenue near Saratoga Avenue early Sunday morning.

The shoot-out appears to have no connection to the wounded suspect.

The 26-year-old man was struck in the shoulder. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to survive. He had been arrested Saturday on drug charges. Two other detainees were also in the van.

Police say they haven't arrested anyone for the shooting.
