Cops: L.I. Church Elder Offers Boy Money for Sex

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Long Island man, who police say claims to be a church elder at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Patchogue, has been arrested for attempting to pay a 13-year-old boy for sex.
Rosemberg Berrios, 42, of Central Islip, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a
prostitute.
He offered the boy the money Sunday in a 7-11 parking lot in Central Islip, police said.
Officers tracked Berrios down with the help of a description provided by the boy, police said.
Berrios was due in court Monday.
