Storm Downs Trees, Power Lines in Connecticut

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)  -- Crews are cleaning up after a strong storm rolled through Connecticut Friday evening, downing trees and knocking out electricity to thousands of customers.

Most roadways in the town of Farmington were blocked with fallen trees and power lines, local police said at 5:30 p.m. They advised residents to remain home or at work until further notice.

Heavy damage was also reported in Wethersfield, West Hartford and towns in the western part of the state. State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance told WTNH-TV that state troopers were responding to minor accidents and trying to remove fallen branches from roadways.
