NEW YORK (AP)  -- New Yorkers did not stop believin'.

Kathleen Maloney reports

The cast and crew of Broadway musical "Rock of Ages'' teamed up with US Air Guitar to help break the Guiness World Record for the largest air guitar ensemble. The cast held the event after Wednesday's matinee performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

William Ocean, the 2007 National Air Guitar champion, taught the audience how to play the air guitar.

A representative from Guinness World Records was on hand to count the 810 participants who broke the previous world record of 440 people for largest air guitar ensemble.

The group air guitared to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" for two minutes and 34 seconds.
