Police Investigate Two Violent Attacks on the Upper East Side

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A man was beaten on the Upper East Side Sunday a day after another man was beaten and robbed in a bias attack in the same neighborhood, police say.

The 40-year-old man suffered two skull fractures and a broken nose in Sunday's attack on East 84th Street around 3:20 a.m., police say.

No arrests have been made.

A day earlier, 36-year-old Joseph Holladay, of Boston, was attacked on East 85th Street around 4 a.m. as he smoked a cigarette. Police say the men were using anti-gay slurs during the robbery.

Holladay, who was in New York for the annual Gay Pride parade, says the men got away with his wallet, watch and other items.

"It came out of nowhere," Holladay said. "All of a sudden I heard 'What are you looking at f-----t?,' and I was unconscious and woke up in the hospital."

Authorities have released a sketch of a man wanted in Saturday's incident.

Police have not determined whether the attacks are related.

Anyone with information in regards to either incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
