A pedestrian fell through the heavy steel mesh lid of a transformer vault Thursday, on 51st Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues shortly after 7 a.m. While never in danger from electricity, fire officials said, the woman was taken to the hospital with serious neck, back and knee injuries.
