Nearly 3,000 members and their families are expected to attend the event which begins Saturday at the Marriott in downtown Brooklyn.
The hotel will make a few adjustments for the event, such as lowering the check-in desk in the lobby and higher stools at the bar. In the guests' rooms, the bedrooms, sinks, and ironing-boards have also been adjusted.
Attendees will range in height from two feet to 4-foot-10 and hail from 18 countries. The week-long convention will include medical clinics, several workshops, and a banquet.
Four-foot tall Risa Rifkind, of Ditmas Park, is excited to have the convention in her hometown. "Good things come in small packages," Rifkind, 18, says. "Well a lot of small things are coming to New York."
