MELVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police say a woman, armed with a handgun, robbed a bank in Melville Friday morning.
The woman allegedly walked into the Madison National Bank Branch on Walt Whitman Road and pointed a handgun at the teller demanding money. Police say she then pointed the gun at other bank employees and told them not to notify the authorities.
The woman fled south on Walt Whitman Road after the teller gave her cash, police say. There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and no one was injured.
The suspect is described as a woman between 20 and 30-years-old, approximately 5-feet-7-inches tall with a thin to medium build. She has light-colored eyes, with very light-colored skin and reddish-brown hair that was possibly dyed.
Police say she may have a mole or birthmark on the right side of her face. She was wearing jeans, a dark-colored sweatshirt with the word "Virginia" possibly written on the front and a Mets baseball cap.
Anyone with information concerning this robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
