Cops: Man Arrested with Bomb, Talked about School

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (AP)  -- Police say a northeastern New York man upset about personal problems was found carrying a homemade bomb after witnesses said he made comments about blowing up a school.

Jason A. Babson was being held without bail Sunday after being arrested on charges including weapons possession. A woman who answered the telephone at his Hudson Falls home declined to comment or say whether he had a lawyer.

Hudson Falls police say the 29-year-old got into a domestic argument early Saturday with two people, who later told police he'd said he might blow up a school. Police say they soon found Babson carrying fireworks and the homemade explosive, which authorities safely disarmed.

Police say Babson told a detective he planned to dismantle the device but initially aimed to use it to mark July Fourth.
