Conn. Police: Queens Man Found Dead in Guilford Pond

GUILFORD, Conn. (AP)  -- Connecticut police are investigating the apparent drowning death of a 19-year-old New York man in a Guilford pond.

Nineteen-year-old Garland Brown of Queens, N.Y., had been swimming with friends in the pond Sunday afternoon when he went under.

Police say the University of Connecticut student was found about 10 minutes later in the water by one of his friends and he tried CPR.

Police say the friends were all swimming and frolicking around and for unknown reasons, Brown just went under.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
