PLYMOUTH, Conn. (AP) -- Police say a fireworks explosion in Connecticut sent plastic shrapnel flying and injured two men who were standing nearby.
The incident happened Saturday night in the Terryville section of Plymouth.
Police say a 38-year-old man was hospitalized for burns and leg injuries, and a 58-year-old man was released from the hospital after getting seven staples to close a chest wound. Their names have not been released.
The fireworks were not part of any sanctioned event, and authorities confiscated them.
Agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosions are investigating.
