New Jersey Man Charged with Stealing Trade Secrets from Goldman Sachs

NEWARK, N.J. (AP)  -- Federal authorities have charged a New Jersey man with stealing trade secrets from his former employer, Goldman Sachs.

The FBI says Russian-born Sergey Aleynikov of North Caldwell, a computer programmer, downloaded software owned by the financial firm. He allegedly sent proprietary computer codes to an Internet account in Germany.

The FBI arrested the 39-year-old Aleynikov on Friday at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Aleynikov's attorney, Sabrina Shroff, said Monday she wasn't ready to comment on the case and would not confirm if her client had made bail.

An FBI affidavit says Aleynikov used his personal passwords to download data from Goldman Sachs from June 1 to June 5.

Aleynikov resigned from his $400,000 Goldman Sachs job June 5.
