Cops: Conn. Teen Accused of Cruelty Steals Dog Back

TORRINGTON, Conn. (AP)  -- A 17-year-old Torrington boy accused of animal cruelty is now accused of breaking into the pound to steal his dog back.

Police say that sometime early Tuesday morning the boy allegedly broke into the Torrington Dog Pound and took back the dog that had been taken from him last week.

The boy had been arrested on June 30 after police received a complaint of the way he was treating the dog while on the grounds of Torrington High School.

Police say after getting a call from the pound, they tracked down the boy at home and found the dog, arresting the boy on new criminal charges.

The new charges include trespassing, larceny, burglary and tampering with evidence.
