Upstate High School Baseball Players Cleared of Hazing
WILSON, N.Y. (AP) -- Two western New York high school baseball players have been cleared of charges that they took part in a sexually oriented hazing on a team bus.
Wilson Town Justice George Berger released a ruling Thursday finding the boys not guilty of misdemeanor counts of forcible touching and hazing. He offered no explanation for the finding, which follows a non-jury trial.
Earlier this week, the Niagara County district attorney's office dropped child endangerment charges against two coaches who were accused of failing to properly supervise players on the bus where the alleged incident occurred in April 2008.
But lawyers for three accusers say they are going forward with civil lawsuits against the school district.
