Irvington Man Surrenders in Shooting of 10-Year-Old Girl

IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP)  -- Police say an Irvington man wanted by police in a shooting that wounded a 10-year-old girl playing on her front porch has turned himself in.

Twenty-six-year-old Davion Jackson surrendered Wednesday, accompanied by his parole officer and his lawyer.

Police say Jackson fired the gunshot that hit Qualiyah Davis in the stomach as she was playing outside her home on Sunday afternoon.

He is charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $500,000.

Jackson's lawyer, Joseph A. Ferrante, said Thursday that his client was an innocent bystander to a shooting perpetrated by others and was falsely implicated by a neighbor.
