Texas 6-Year-Old Boy Drowns in New Jersey Pool

METUCHEN, N.J. (AP) -- Police say a 6-year-old from Texas who was visiting relatives in New Jersey drowned in a pool.

Metuchen police say the boy was fully clothed and apparently fell into the in-ground swimming pool Wednesday.

Police and emergency personnel tried administering CPR to the child for nearly an hour. Resuscitation efforts failed and the child was pronounced dead at a hospital.

His name and hometown have not been released.
