Queens Cabbie Who 'Found Baby' Pleads Guilty to Attempted Rape

NEW YORK (AP)  -- A New York City livery driver who plotted to get rid of a baby by claiming the infant was left in his cab has pleaded guilty to trying to rape a passenger.

Queens prosecutors say Klever Sailema is facing up to 5 and 1/2 years in prison when he is sentenced on a charge of attempted first-degree rape Aug. 4.

Sailema picked up the female passenger about 1 a.m. March 2. Prosecutors say she fell asleep in the back seat and when she awoke, he was on top of her. She escaped.

Sailema made headlines last year when he left an infant at a firehouse, claiming the baby was abandoned. Later, police said he helped get rid of the child.
