Queens Bridal Center Settles with Jilted Customers

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP)  -- A defunct New York wedding photography and video business will pay $250,000 in restitution to more than 500 customers who were left hanging when the company went bankrupt.

The owners of Queens Bridal Center, which had four stores in New York City and Long Island, also will pay $75,000 in penalties, fees and costs to the state.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says 550 customers were affected when the company abruptly closed in late 2007.

Cuomo says in some instances the company knew it was going bankrupt and continued taking deposits for weddings it never intended to shoot. Other jilted customers were able to retrieve raw footage of their weddings and have another studio complete the videos of their nuptials.
