Mt. Vernon Council Candidate Found Passed Out with Gun
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP/1010 WINS) -- Police in Westchester County say they handcuffed a political candidate and confiscated a gun from his waistband after they found him passed out from alcohol.
A police report says Mount Vernon City Council candidate Samuel Rivers was found on the steps outside a New Rochelle restaurant over the weekend. No charges were filed.
Rivers said he had not been drinking, and was just waiting for a taxi. He claimed police violated his rights by confiscating his gun and his tape recorder.
