Bob Barker's Name on Twitter Causes Nervous Tweets

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Don't worry, Twitter Universe - - Bob Barker is still alive.

The former host of "The Price Is Right" was the subject of enough posts, or Tweets, Monday evening on Twitter for his name to be listed among the "trending topics" list on the social networking site.

Often with celebrities, especially those who are older or aren't frequently in the spotlight, that means they've passed away. But Barker didn't inspire dozens of Tweets per minute because he died, he inspired them because he served as the guest host on the pro wrestling show "WWE Raw."

Not long after Barker's name appeared on Twitter's popular topics list, hundreds more posts that included his name followed. Many of them were from users who had either assumed he died or were expressing their relief that he hadn't.

There was also a large number of posts discussing the initial reason Barker became a popular subject for discussion, his wrestling appearance.

Barker, who was promoting his new book, "Priceless Memories," opened the live WWE event by hosting a mock "pricing game" with wrestlers doubling as contestants. He didn't actually get into the ring but was featured in several other skits throughout the night.

Barker, 85, retired from "The Price Is Right" in June of 2007.
