Brooklyn Teenager is Presumed Drowned

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A Brooklyn teenager was missing and presumed drowned Friday night after he fell off his jet ski, according to authorities. The teen, Paul Zaccaria, 17, was not wearing a life preserver at the time of the accident.

The accident occurred when Zaccaria made a sharp turn,  known as a fishtail. In the process of performing this maneuver his jet ski was struck from behind by another jet ski with two riders on it.

A search for a missing teenager was called off Friday evening because of darkness as well as heavy storms moving through

Dive teams, along with Police, Fire and Coast Guard boats started the search after they were alerted of a jet ski accident which occurred in Mill Basin, a waterway running from lower Brooklyn to Jamaica Bay.

A Coast Guard spokesman says the teen was missing after two jet skis collided in the waters at 4:30 Friday afternoon.

Two other people were rescued with no reported injuries.
