Assault Rifle Found during Suffolk Traffic Stop

YAPHANK, Long Island -- A Holbrook man was arrested Saturday night after Suffolk County police observed an assault rifle in the back of his truck.

Police said Thomas Lynagh, 42, was pulled over after he made an illegal U-turn in his pickup truck near Edwards Avenue and the LIE North Service Road in Calverton.

An officer approaching the vehicle, saw an open case with an assault rifle in the rear of the vehicle. Police said the gun was loaded.

Lynagh was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
