Bronx Educator Denies Being Drunk When Arrested for DWI
NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- A Bronx assistant principal says she was drowsy, not drunk, when police stopped her on a highway with her child in her car.
Melonie Lendor, who lives in Walden, was arrested Sept. 17 on the New York State Thruway after another motorist reported she was driving unsafely.
A grand jury in Rockland County hears the case next week.
State police charged Lendor with driving while intoxicated as a felony because of two prior drunken driving convictions in Orange County within the past decade. She's also charged with misdemeanor child endangerment.
Lendor has been reassigned from her position as an assistant principal for Intermediate School 217 in the Bronx.
