Dr. Paul M. Brisson is an experienced orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spinal surgery, treating spinal pain, infections, and tumors as well as scoliosis and degenerative disorders.
Dr. Brisson’s approach to spinal care is conservative, and he typically starts with non-invasive treatments like physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises before turning to surgical procedures. He is actively involved with his patients, taking time to evaluate their overall health and medical history while determining the best course of treatment. The decision to undergo spinal surgery is complex and often fraught with anxiety. Dr. Brisson makes sure his patients understand their options and know what to expect during treatment. If surgery is needed, he and his staff are available before, during, and after the operation to answer questions and offer advice.
Assisting Dr. Brisson are two knowledgeable physician assistants, Jennifer Stern and Theresa Giammarino. He also collaborates with outside specialists, from physical therapists to other orthopedic experts, to make sure patients get the very best care.
Dr. Brisson received his M.D. from the University of Montreal’s School of Medicine. He has completed a broad range of post-graduate training, including Residencies in General and Orthopedic Surgery at McGill University’s Teaching Hospital Network, a Fellowship for Spinal Surgery at New York’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, and a Fellowship for Spinal Surgery at Buffalo General Hospital, where he worked with pioneering spinal surgeon Dr. Edward D. Simmons.
