Queens District Attorney Richard Brown on Thursday says the 45-year-old driver is being charged with reckless endangerment, attempted child endangerment, and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. His lawyer's name was not immediately available.

A Queens school official called police on Wednesday after noticing the driver was intoxicated.

The driver, Lakhram Omwathatth, of Brooklyn, said he had taken cold medicine with a soft drink. But police say a breath test showed his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.

A supervisor at the driver's employer, Brooklyn's Safe Coach, Inc., said the bus driver was suspended by the Dept. of Education.
