Brooklyn Names Street after Bob Marley

NEW YORK -- An 11 block section of Church Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn's Caribbean community has been named for Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley.

A sign for Bob Marley Boulevard was unveiled Wednesday at the corner of Remsen and Church Avenues in East Flatbush.

Caribbean bands and sound systems played Marley classics for the enthusiastic crowd of about 1,500 people.

They included the late singer's son Rohan "Ruggu'' Marley and the consul general of Jamaica.
