83-Year-Old Woman Dies in Hamilton Heights Blaze

NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- An 83-year-old Hamilton Heights woman has died apparently during a fire in her apartment.

Fire officials say they received a 911 call on the report of a fire at the home of Ida Castro late Sunday.

Officials say the blaze broke out on the sixth floor of 605 West 141st Street just before midnight.

Castro was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner's office will determine the exact cause of her death.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Police say no criminality is suspected.
