Building Explosion on NYC's Upper East Side
A four-story building on Manhattan's Upper East Side went up in flames and collapsed in July, 2006 after a thunderous explosion that rocked the upscale neighborhood. Authorities said the apparent cause was a gas explosion, possibly triggered by a suicidal doctor who lived in the building and was going through a difficult divorce. Several people were injured, including civilians and firefighters, the Fire Department said.
