Prison Instructor Charged with Having Sex with Inmate

MALONE, N.Y. (AP/1010 WINS) -- Police accuse a female vocational instructor at a northern New York prison of having sex with an inmate.

Forty-one-year-old Lori J. Shova taught custodial maintenance at Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Malone until being fired by state prison officials. She was charged with official misconduct and second-degree sexual abuse, both misdemeanors.

The Malone resident was released on an appearance ticket. She is due back in court Thursday.
