New York-Presbyterian Hospital officials on Wednesday are celebrating the opening of its $25 million co-generation plant.

Hospital officials say the plant's gas combustion turbine generates heat exhaust which is recycled into energy for heating and cooling.

The savings will pay for the plant in six years.

The greener energy is expected to reduce emissions of 20,000 tons of pollutants annually. That's equal to removing 3,600 vehicles from city streets.
