Barking Dog Saves Girl's Life

EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- An Irish terrier's incessant barking helped save the life of an East Northport ten-year-old.

Jean Stout was with her family at her grandfather's home in upstate Stony Creek on Monday when she suffered a severe asthma attack.

The young girl passed out in the bathtub, and the dog, Curley, started to bark -- altering Jean's parents and saving her life.

Jean's parents say the terrier has always been attentive toward the ten-year-old and her younger brother.

Doctors say Jean probably suffered from what's called a mucus plug. They've fitted her with a heart monitor.
