NYPD: Greenwich Village 'Deliveryman' Robbery Suspect Arrested
NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- Police have arrested a suspect they say posed as a deliveryman to rob Manhattan apartments.
William Rodriguez is in police custody Thursday after a hot line tip led police to him. He's been charged in three of the robberies and is believed by the NYPD to be behind four others.
Carol D'Auria reports
Police say the thief would grab boxes delivered to other addresses and use them to force his way into homes. Once inside, he'd tie up the victims, all women, and make off with cell phones, laptops, jewelry and cash. All but one were uninjured. One woman suffered a cut on her lip.
The robberies took place between October 9 and this week. It wasn't clear whether the suspect had a lawyer and there's no phone listing for him.
