Queens Woman Sentenced for Killing, Castrating Father
NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- A 28-year-old New York City woman who strangled and castrated her father has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.
After Friday's sentencing, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown called the crime deeply disturbing and said he hopes Brigitte Harris will receive counseling in prison.
Carol D'Auria reports
Harris was convicted in September of manslaughter and weapons possession in the 2007 slaying of 55-year-old Eric Goodridge, of Staten Island.
Prosecutors say Harris lured her father to her Queens apartment, handcuffed and gagged him, duct-taped a towel around his head and strangled him. They say she castrated Goodridge after he died.
Both Harris and her older sister publicly claimed Goodridge had sexually abused them from early childhood.
