NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey man has admitted that he fatally stabbed his live-in girlfriend and tried to kill four young children during a rampage in their home.
Daniel Charron pleaded guilty Friday to murder and four counts of attempted murder in the December 2007 attacks in South Amboy. He also pleaded guilty to sexual assault, admitting he improperly touched a child younger than 13.
Charron's plea bargain with Middlesex County prosecutors calls for him to receive a 30-year state prison sentence for the murder charge, and he must serve the full term. He will receive a concurrent 50-year term on the remaining counts and must serve at least 85 percent of that term before becoming eligible for parole.
The children -- who ranged in age from 7 to 12 -- have recovered from their injuries. Three were Charron's from a previous relationship, while the fourth is the victim's daughter.
