SELDEN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Selden woman was arrested on Saturday and charged for animal cruelty.
Suffolk SPCA Chief Roy Gross said 43-year-old Sharon McDonough of 18 Awixa Place was arrested after neglected pets were found at her home.
Neighbors complained to authorities about the conditions of the animals at McDonough's home.
Some allegations suggest that McDonough stole pets from the neighborhood and has killed and buried as many as 20 animals.
SPCA authorities were digging the the woman's backyard in search of bones of deceased animals Saturday afternoon.
Gross tells 1010 WINS that they did find animal remains while digging on Saturday. The SPCA will continue digging through the night to search for more remains.
McDonough had five dogs, a cat, a bird and a hamster in the home when she was arrested. Those pets have been removed by the SPCA.
Seven children were in the house as well, ranging from 18 months to 21 years of age.
