PHOTO: NY Public Library Has New Lion Logo

NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS)  -- The New York Public Library's latest logo features a streamlined lion designed to read well online.

The logo is a circle with a lion's profile inside. Library officials say it was drawn in bold lines to read well on a computer or in print. The logo is already on the library's Web site.

The library's graphics team based the design on the marble statues of the lions that flank the steps to the library's Fifth Avenue entrance. They're known as Patience and Fortitude.

The logo and the library's new mission were unveiled at the main library on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street last week.
