Owner of NJ Wedding Photo Firm Pleads Guilty to Theft

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP/ 1010 WINS)  -- The owner of a now-defunct New Jersey wedding photography business has pleaded guilty to theft for failing to deliver photos, albums and videos to hundreds of customers and failing to pay photographers for their work.

Marc S. Schwartz of Randolph and his Chester-based company, Celebration Studios, entered guilty pleas Tuesday in state Superior Court in Morristown.

The company's plea agreement requires it to make more than $850,000 in restitution to nearly 250 victims, plus civil penalties and investigative costs. Under his individual plea agreement, Schwartz must pay $75,000 in restitution to eight photographers. The state Division of Criminal Justice will recommend a sentence of one year of probation.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 18.
