Queens Man Guilty of Murdering, Dismembering 2 Men

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY (AP)  -- A Queens man has been convicted of shooting and dismembering two men and burying their body parts in his Long Island parents' backyard over a drug deal gone bad.

A jury in Central Islip on Friday found 29-year-old Darren Lynch guilty of murder and kidnapping in the deaths of 22-year-old Jairo Santos and 35-year-old Joseph Odierno.

Lynch had testified earlier that he killed the two because he was angry they had sold him $30,000 worth of fake cocaine.

The victims were last seen in July last year at Long Island University's C.W. Post Campus in Old Brookville, where Santos was a student.

A co-defendant, 30-year-old James Wall, of Coram, was also found guilty of murder and kidnapping.

Lynch faces life without parole and Wall faces 25 years to life at a Dec. 11 sentencing.
