New Rochelle Residents Advised Not to Drink Water

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- Residents of New Rochelle have been advised not to drink water from their taps due to a water main break.

Water should only be used for household sanitation purposes but is safe for hand-washing, officials said.

Automated calls were made by the New Rochelle city manager's office to alert residents.

Residents of Pelham, Eastchester and parts of Scarsdale were also affected, officials said.

The problem started at about 12:30 p.m. in a main on Pershing Avenue.
