In the federal indictment announced Tuesday, Dennis Elwell is charged with accepting $10,000 from an undercover government witness posing as a developer looking to gain project approvals. Elwell's lawyer, Thomas Cammarata, says his client plans to plead not guilty.
An associate, Ronald Manzo, also is charged. He allegedly accepted $5,000 for helping set up the arrangement with Elwell. Manzo's lawyer did not immediately return a call for comment.
They were among 44 people arrested in July in the largest single corruption sting in New Jersey's history.
