Funeral Set for N.J. Soldier Slain in Murder-Suicide

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP)  -- Services will take place Thursday in New Jersey for an Army soldier who authorities say was killed by her husband in an apparent murder-suicide in Kentucky.

Spec. Ariana Thom's funeral will take place in Hackensack, near where the 25-year-old Teaneck native grew up.

Police in Oak Grove, Ky., say her husband, Jason, called 911 on Nov. 6 and said he had shot his wife. Officers found both dead when they arrived.

The pair had dated in high school and reconnected when Jason Thom was in the Army in Texas. He later left the service.

The couple had one child and Ariana Thom had a child from a previous relationship.

She was a helicopter mechanic stationed at Fort Campbell and was expected to deploy to Iraq in February.
