Babylon Cardiologist Charged in Federal Child Porn Case

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP/ 1010 WINS)  --  A New York cardiologist is free on $1 million bond following his arrest on federal child pornography charges.

Dr. Frank T. Pollaro of Babylon pleaded not guilty on Friday to charges he shipped and received photographs and videos of young children engaged in sexual situations.

Prosecutors say they learned of Pollaro following the May 2008 arrest of an unidentified person in Katy, Texas. That person allegedly had Pollaro's e-mail account on his computer.

Authorities say Pollaro admitted trading in child pornography for the past five years. He told prosecutors he had an estimated 500 images and videos on his computer.
