YONKERS, NY (AP) -- Emilio Cortes, 31, of Yonkers was arrested yesterday morning after being spotted by plainclothes police officers smashing car windows with a hammer, according to the Journal News.
Police say when they ordered Cortes to drop the hammer, Cortes refused and had to be subdued by the officers.
A total of nine cars were vandalized by Cortes who was reportedly after items of value within the cars.
The Journal says the Officers found a car stereo and iPod in his car that was removed from one of the damaged cars.
According to the Journal, Cortes is charged with nine counts of third-degree criminal mischief, petty larceny, second-degree stripping, possession of burglar's tools and resisting arrest.
