SI Hit/Run Driver's License had been Suspended 29 Times



NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- After turning himself in, Allmir Lekperic, 26, of Staten Island has been charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a fatal accident according to the New York times.

Lekperic was driving a white Ford Econoline van westbound on New Dorp Lane just after 7 p.m. Wednesday night when he struck a 78-year-old male and a 77-year-old woman at outside their church.

The New York Times reports that Lekperic has had his license suspended 29 times in the last three years. His last suspension being September 8th for failing to answer a summons.

Cops say his bail was set at $50,0001 and he is expected to post it and be released. His next court appearance is set for Feb. 3, 2010.
