Man Arrested in North Bergen Motel Fire



NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (AP/ 1010 WINS)  -- Police say they have arrested a man for allegedly setting a fire that damaged a northern New Jersey motel.

No one was injured in the smoky fire that started in a linen cart at the Seville Motel in North Bergen shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Police arrested 21-year-old Jesse Osorio of Jersey City, a motel guest, after surveillance video showed a man matching his description pressing a lit cigarette into the linen cart in a hallway.

Osorio is charge with aggravated arson and risking widespread injury. He was being held Tuesday at the North Bergen Police Department pending a court appearance. He had not yet retained a lawyer.

The fire burned for about an hour, causing smoke and water damage throughout the building.
