15-Year-Old Found Dead after Going to Mail Card

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/AP)  -- Detectives in Bronxville are scouring surveillance tapes from a street where a teenager was found dead, in front of a church, while on her way to mail a Christmas card.

An autopsy is being performed Thursday on the 15-year-old to determine the cause of death.

Passers-by found her late Wednesday morning, after her Bronx High School class was released for the holidays.

Police Sgt. Stephen Gallo says she was heading for a mailbox near home, where she lived with her family.

Surveillance video shows the teenager walking down a hilly street about six minutes before 911 calls were made.

Police have not ruled out either foul play or an accident. The teenager reportedly suffered head and arm injuries.

Her name has not been released.
